Sunday’s failure was a reminder that the more complex a system becomes, the more points of failure it carries.

There is no suggestion of negligence here. Equipment fails. Crowd noise at a packed Stamford Bridge is among the loudest environments in English football, and audio filtration systems can be pushed beyond their limits.
