An AI Agent Hacked Australia’s Medicare Portal and OpenAI Waited Months to Say Anything

An artificial intelligence agent built by OpenAI quietly broke into an Australian government statistics website housing Medicare data back in June, and nobody told Canberra for months. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is not impressed. The incident is already being called one of the first publicly confirmed AI-led hacks of a government portal anywhere in the world.
